Cuauhtémoc

Cuauhtémoc is from the Mexican Navy. She is worth watching arrive & depart into a port since the crew dress the yards (are up the masts), they sing and they have Mexican music playing. Plus when the ship is open to the public they will have music playing. She will fire a 21 gun salute & be escorted by local vessels – Soren Larsen, Martindale & the fire tug.

Cuauhtémoc is a steel-hulled three-masted barque launched in 1982, which is 90.5m long, has a mast height of 48.2m & has 261 crew.

Cuauhtémoc is named after the last Aztec emperor and warrior, and is the Mexican Navy’s instructional tall ship for fourth-year cadets at the Heroic Naval Military School. This 7 month voyage, travels over 25,000 nautical miles & visit 13 ports.

Cuauhtémoc will be open to the public for free inspections at Garden Island :
Mon 14 Oct – 11:00 – 22:00
Tue 15 Oct – 10:00 – 17:00
Wed 16 to Fri 18 Oct – 10:00 – 22:00
Sat 19 Oct – departing at 10:00

Oosterschelde

Oosterschelde is a Dutch 3-masted topsail schooner launched in 1918. She will be escorted in by the fire tug & Soren Larsen. She was last in Sydney for the Internal Fleet Review in 2013.
She is currently engaged in a global conservation initiative known as DARWIN200, that aims to help train the world’s top young conservationists known as Darwin Leaders to change the planet for the better. We are sailing around the world following the journey of Charles Darwin aboard HMS Beagle to build awareness for good by creating an immense range of educational resources that are provided completely free of charge to schools, children and the public across the globe. Each week, we showcase amazing conservation work from different locations that we visit and beam this to a global audience. Whilst in Sydney, 12 Darwin Leaders will be working on multiple local conservation projects here. Both the ship and DARWIN200 are non-profit organisations.
